Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management
CTU’s healthcare management online degree program is designed to provide students with a well-rounded study regimen in the field of healthcare. The online Healthcare Management degree program offers instruction in the business and administrative side of the healthcare industry, including, but not limited to, patient access, revenue cycle management, project management, economics of healthcare and fundamentals of marketing and human resource management. You will also have an opportunity to study important regulations and explore how to support an organization’s compliance needs, including patient privacy and HIPAA laws, as well as changing issues in billing and insurance.
This Healthcare Management degree is offered as a general track or with a concentration in Informatics.
Program Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management is a 180-credit-hour program that is offered online and at the Colorado Springs campus. The program includes 51 credit hours of general education credit, 109 credit hours of core healthcare management classes, and 20 credit hours of electives to define a concentration area.
The Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills applicable to management positions in the healthcare industry as well as the application of fundamental principles and concepts of business administration to the healthcare management field.
Students will be presented with an integration of foundational knowledge in healthcare management and understanding and analysis of current issues such as reimbursement strategies; the changing legislative and regulatory environment; and the relationship of cost, quality, and access to care. Students may compare healthcare delivery models for their purposes and effectiveness, and contrast the United States with other countries; apply technology innovations and business, ethical, and legal principles to the management of healthcare organizations; and analyze various types of reimbursement received for healthcare services and the effect on the financial operations of a healthcare organization.
This program does not lead to additional licensure or certification. As such, CTU has made no determination regarding prerequisites for licensure or certification in any state or jurisdiction.

Dr. Laura Sliwinski, Ph.D.
Executive Program DirectorDr. Laura Sliwinski joined CTU in 2020 as the Executive Program Director for Health Studies in the College of Nursing and Health Studies. Dr. Sliwinski has over twenty years combined experience in healthcare and higher education administration.

CTU’s Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management (BSHM) Degree Program is designed to provide knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant for pursuing potential opportunities in the workforce. This bachelor’s degree program emphasizes the skills applicable to management positions, as well as the application of fundamental principles and concepts of business administration to the healthcare management field. Students will be presented with an integration of foundational knowledge in healthcare management and an understanding and analysis of current issues in the field.
As you work to complete your BSHM, you will be immersed in courses where you may study these topics and much more: cultures, traditions, and value systems as they apply in international, multinational, and global business settings; financial statements and financial statement analysis; and building sustainable excellence in customer service.
Courses for the BSHM start online and on our Colorado Springs campus approximately every five weeks. Completion of the CTU admissions process will depend on how quickly you complete the steps in the CTU online application process. You may complete the application process over the phone with an advisor or you may go online. Once you’ve completed the online application, you may hear from an advisor within the following 24 hours to discuss the next steps toward starting your degree program.
The BSHM degree program consists of 180 credits. You may be eligible for transfer credit, which is evaluated on an individual basis. Not all credits are eligible to transfer. By completing and passing CTU Fast Track™ exams you can receive college credit for what you already know—allowing you to complete your degree program up to 30% faster.1
